Ticklish

Lukas eating solids

Since he is now 13 months old, Lukas should be eating solids pretty well. He has such a gag reflex that he has been struggling with for a while now. The doctor seemed concerned because he only gained about 1 lb from 6-9 months, and another 1 lb from 9-12 months. It sounds worse than it is, as you can see in the pictures he is not a skinny boy, but the doctor said it was not enough. He has me giving Lukas whole milk + formula in each of his bottles. He gained 2 lbs in just 1 week! He also sent us to a speech therapist to see if she could help him with tongue movements. We went to the therapist and she said to dip lots of stuff he chews on into baby food. We have to start all over getting him slowly used to different textures. I'm willing to do whatever helps him eat solids, but I am still hoping that one day soon he will outgrow the gagging and eat solids with ease. We see his doctor and the speech therapist again next week. With the whole milk, I am guessing he has gotten up to 27 lbs, but we will see soon!

Messy boy

It seems like the fun of throwing more food on the floor than into his mouth will never end. We went to a friends house for dinner the other night, they have a dog that ran over to eat whatever he threw down, and he thought it was hilarious! Still thinking getting a dog would be great (less kitchen floor cleaning!) but the cats say no. If we had a fenced in yard it would be different, for now I just need to work on training the kitties to lick the floor!

Fall is here!

Went to get apples, cider and pumpkins from the local orchard.Lukas isn't sure if he likes cider or not, but he loves biting into apples. He doesn't eat them...just bites them all over leaving tons of little teeth holes...then leaves them for us to finish off. These 2 large pumpkins were real and huge!! We got the much smaller version for carving.

Lounging

Nothing is better than lounging around watching cartoons in your favorite chair. Slowly relaxing more and more. Eventually, he just slid out of the chair. Blues Clues can be hypnotizing!
